Fayette County (Indiana)

Fayette County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Connersville.

Geography

The County is located in the central south-east of Indiana, is in the east about 40 km away from Ohio and has an area of 557 square kilometers without significant water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Henry County, Wayne County, Union County, Franklin County and Rush County.

History

Fayette County was formed on December 28, 1818 from parts of Franklin County and Wayne County. It was named after Marie -Joseph Motier, Marquis de La Fayette, a general in the American Revolutionary War.
