FC Callatis Mangalia

Callatis Mangalia is a Romanian football club from Mangalia, Constanta county.

History

Callatis Mangalia was founded in 1963 as Metalul Mangalia. The club was initially overshadowed by his rivals Marina Mangalia and only played in regional leagues. In 1980 Metalul made ​​the first ascent in the Divizia C. After placements in midfield the club four years later reached the summit in the Divizia B. Just one year later, the club had to go back already. The direct re-emergence was not possible because Metalul the season 1985/86, only finished in twelfth place. At the end of the 1987/88 season the second ascent followed in the Divizia B, which resulted in the immediate descent again.

After the Romanian Revolution, the club changed its name to Callatis Mangalia (named after the historic Greek name of the city). At the end of the 1989/90 season was the but -time rise. The Divizia B belonged to the club in the subsequent period of five years. After three years, which could each be completed at a place in midfield, slipped the club in the relegation zone and had to leave as a Table severed the league in 1995.

After descending to Callatis initially found in the middle of the Divizia C again. Only with the commitment of the Daewoo Group in 1997, things turned around. The club changed its name from now on under Callatis Daewoo Mangalia. After a fourth place at the end of the season 1997/98, followed in 1999 by the rise. Ascent coach Erik Lincar then left the club and was replaced on 27 June 2011 by Marin Barbu. This resigned on 27 September 2011, after the club had lost five of the first six championship games and the last place in the table occupied. The former assistant coach Cristian Schiopu took over the team on an interim basis for two games until Mugurel Cornăţeanu with a new head coach was presented on 10 October 2011.

Shortly before the start of the 2012/13 season, the club withdrew because of financial difficulties of the League II has kicked off in League IV After a year the club managed to climb into the league III.
