History

Farul Constanta was founded in 1949 as Locomotiva Constanţa, as the two clubs Dezrobirea Constanta Constanta and PCA merged. Locomotiva took the place of PCA in Divizia B, the second division of Romania. In the 1955 season Locomotiva first played in Divizia A, but immediately rose again.

In 1957, the Farul Stadium was built in Constanta. Thereafter, the Association changed its name in 1958 Farul Constanta ( German: Lighthouse ) and during the same year, again in the Divizia A. In the 1959/60 season Farul reached his best to date final placement with the 4th Place. In the following season the team got down, but managed in 1962 the chances of promotion. In the 1960s Farul succeeded three times a place in the top 6: 1962 /63 1966/67 and 1969 / 70th 1966 Farul reached the final of the Balkans Cup for club teams, but lost in the final against Rapid Bucharest.

In 1972 the club changed its name to FC Constanţa. After the descent 1978, the FC Constanţa played for ten years - except for a two-year interlude from 1981 to 1983 in Divizia A - in Divizia B. Only in 1988 succeeded after changing the association's name in FC Farul Constanta promotion to the Divizia A.

After the descent 2000, the immediate resurgence followed under coach Petre Grigoraş after FCM Bacau could be defeated in the relegation games. In 2005 Farul celebrated the biggest success in their history: in addition to the 5th place in the Divizia A, the team reached the Romanian Cup final, but lost narrowly to Dinamo Bucharest. From 1958 until his descent to the 2008/ 09 season the club entered a total of 39 years at the highest Romanian league.

The re-emergence should be taken with the new financial backer Giani Nedelcu and new coach Marius Şumudică who signed a two year contract on 6 July 2009, in attack. A first release Şumudicăs after the 1:4 defeat away October 3, 2009 against FC Botosani was withdrawn shortly afterwards, but after the 0-1 defeat on 14 November 2009 at CSM Râmnicu Sarat the coach had his chair at Farul final clear and was replaced by Gheorghe Butoiu. End of December 2009 took over Ştefan Stoica as coach, but was dismissed already 3 April 2010 and replaced by interim coach again Butoiu. At the end of the season Farul had built up such a large debt that he was about to resolution.

In August 2010, the 64 -year-old Ioan Sdrobiş could be required as a head coach. But five months later he released 22 January 2011 on his contract because the club lacked the necessary financial support to pay the players' salaries and put together a competitive team. His successor was up to the end of the season Gheorghe Butoiu, who was already skipped in the past as interim coach. In June 2011, handed Marian Diaconescu, the former club president, his office to the former referee Marcel Lică who had this already clothed between 2002 and 2004. Beginning of July 2011 took Giani Nedelcu, the patron of the association, with Marian Pană a new head coach, who signed a one year contract, the club already but left again in the direction of CS Mioveni on 1 December 2011. On January 9, 2012, Viorel Tănase who had three days earlier terminated at Premier League rivals Dunărea Galaţi, presented as the new coach.
