FC Honka

FC Honka Espoo ( officially: Football Club Honka ) is a Finnish football club from Espoo. The men's team has been playing the 2006 season in the First Division. The women's team plays in the SM- Sarja and is a three time Finnish champion.

History

Men's Football

The club was founded in 1957 as Tapion Honka changed his name but finally in 1975 at FC Honka order. The club finished third in 2005, first place in the Ykkönen and for the first time rose to the highest league in Finland, where he finished 4th equal and thus participated in the UI Cup 2007. After Honka had off in the first round FC TVMK Tallinn, left the team in the second round against Aalborg BK. In 2007, the club also reached the finals of the Finnish Cup. Despite defeat against Tampere United is qualified in this way for the UEFA Cup in 2008/ 09, as Tampere got a job as master of the same year in the Champions League. With victories in the two qualifying rounds on ÍA Akranes and Viking Stavanger FC Honka reached the first main round and met Racing Santander. There, the team retired, however, from 0:1 after two defeats. 2012 won the FC Honka first time the Suomen Cup with a 1-0 final win against Kuopio PS.

Women's Soccer

The women's team managed the 2002 promotion to the top flight. After several years in the mid-table team in 2006 was the first master, and thus qualified for the UEFA Women 's Cup. In the two following years the team was able to defend the championship, respectively, in the 2009 season they finished in second place behind Åland United.

Stadium

The association denies its home games in the 6000 -seater stadium Tapiolan Urheilupuisto which was built in 1970.
