FC Jokerit

The FC Jokerit is a former Finnish football club from Helsinki. He was from 1999 to 2004, won the Finnish Cup in 1999 and 2000 was a Finnish runner.

History

The FC Jokerit was formed in 1999 after the businessman Hjallis Harkimo had taken over the professional department and the associated Erstligalizenz the association Pallokerho -35 ( PK -35). PK -35 in 1997 was in the top flight of Finland, the First Division, went up there and had occupied the 3rd place in the 1998 season. Hjallis Harkimo, who took over the hockey club Jokerit in 1991, called the club from 1999 FC Jokerit.

In the first year under this name the team finished second in the First Division the 4th place and won by a 2-1 final win against FF Jaro Finnish Cup. In the Intertoto Cup FC Jokerit reached after victories against JK Trans Narva and FC Floriana the third round, where you eliminated against West Ham United. The following year, Jokerit was second in the league and was moreover in the final of the League Cup, which was lost to Vaasa PS 1-2. In the UEFA Cup, the team failed to qualify at MTK Budapest.

In qualifying for the UEFA Cup 2001/ 02 FC Jokerit was eliminated by Arsenal Kiev. The 2001 season of the First Division ended the team's second to last place.
