FC Midtjylland

FC Midtjylland is a Danish football club. He established in 1999 through the merger of the first teams of Herning Fremad (founded in 1918) and Ikast FS ( founded in 1935 ) shows.

History

These associations persist and maintain their own youth teams. For a particularly practiced in Denmark concept was continued, which will enable smaller clubs, economically and sporty permanently to establish themselves in the top flight (see also FC København, FC Nordsjælland ).

The club logo adorns the stylized head of a wolf. Although for more than 200 years is no wild wolves more in Denmark, the wolf was chosen as a symbol because wolves in the area of today's cities Herning and Ikast were very common. Hence the nickname of the team Ulvene is ( "Wolves ").

Championship

At the end of the 1999/2000 season, the first after the founding of the club, the FC Midtjylland was immediately master the 1st Division ( second highest division) and rose to the SAS League. This game belongs to the class FCM since the rise uninterruptedly. In the years 2007 and 2008 the club was runner-up and achieved the best-ever rankings in the still short club's history.

Cup

The FCM reached the Danish Cup final in 2003, 2005, 2010 and 2011. In the first two finals he defeated each against Brøndby IF with 0:3 and 2:3. 2010 and 2011 lost the FC Midtjylland against FC Nordsjælland.
