FC Nistru Otaci

The FC Nistru Otaci ( due to merger with FC UniSport car Chisinau 1999-2000: FC Nistru - UniSport Otaci ) is a Moldovan football club based Ocniţa.

History

Nistru Otaci was founded in 1953 under its current name. In the fall of 1992, the club was promoted to the newly established after independence of Moldova in the spring Divizia Naţională. There you could place in midfield and reached the semifinals of the Moldovan Cup, but where you retired after a clear 1:8 defeat against the eventual Cup winner Tiligul Tiraspol in the 1992/93 season.

1994 Nistru Otaci League Fourth, the rematch against Tiligul Tiraspol, this time in the cup final, failed by a 0-1 defeat after extra time. After you managed to establish itself in the upper middle in the following years, the club reached the Cup final again in 1997, against Zimbru Chişinău they lost on penalties, however.

During the 1998/99 season Nistru was sentenced to a point deduction, as the youth team did not compete for several games. Since then, the club no longer took the championship games from the 16th match day, he was excluded entirely from the game. In summer, merged with the FC UniSport car Chişinău, who had managed to avoid relegation, as the opponents in the relegation matches, Migdal Carahasani, did not compete.

The 1999/2000 season ended FC Nistru - UniSport Otaci than in fourth, the merger but was canceled at the end of the season and Nistru came again alone in the first division. 2001 was the club for the third time in the cup final, which Sheriff Tiraspol but could decide on penalties for itself. Since Serif also national champion, was represented for the first time Nistru Moldova in the European Cup.

2002 Nistru was 15 points behind Serif Tiraspol runner-up. In it, the club met in the Moldovan Cup final, but lost the rematch for the final defeat last year after 120 minutes with 2:3. 2003 the association reached for the third time in a row the Cup final, losing to Zimbru Chisinau on penalties meant, however, that even in the fifth attempt Nistru Otaci drew the short straw, but was beaten at the earliest by the end of the extension.

2004-2006 Nistru finished each season as runner-up behind Moldovan Serif Tiraspol, which could have up to 18 points ahead. First time in 2005 the club managed a title. In their sixth Cup Final succeeded by a goal in the 89th minute against Dacia Chişinău with a 1-0 success winning the trophy. The title defense failed, however, when they lost the cup final against Serif Tiraspol 0-2 in May 2006.

In the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup in 2008, the club resigned from the German Bundesliga club Hertha BSC after a 1:8 in Berlin and a 0-0 draw in Chisinau from the competition.
