History

The FC Schwalbe was founded in 1899. Although he was called football club, he was at the beginning a pure rugby club and has never had a football department. Its name derives from the swallows on the training ground in the meadows on wood Hemminger (now flooded by the Maschsee ) from whose responsive flight characteristics should be the model for the game of the team.

The most successful period of the club were the 1920s and 1930s, in which the three championship titles were won in 1923, 1926 and 1936. Later could not be attached to these successes, the club plays unterklassig for decades.

Between 2003 and 2009, played the first team in a lottery syndicate with the second team of the German Rugby Club Hannover.
