FC Vitebsk

The FK Vitebsk (White Russian ФК Віцебск, Russian ФК Витебск / FK Vitebsk ) is a football club from the White Russian town of Vitebsk. He plays after the descent from the Wyschejschaja Liha 2011 now in the Perschaja Liha, the second- highest division of Belarus. His only previous title he won in 1998 with the White Russian Cup.

History

The FK Vitebsk was founded in 1960 as KIM Vitebsk. The club was renamed several times, in 1995 Dvina Vitebsk, 1996 Lakamatyu -96 Vitebsk, Vitebsk Lakamatyu 2002 and finally 2007 FK Vitebsk.

He was in 1992 after the independence of Belarus of the founding members of the Wyschejschaja Liha, where he finished second behind each Dinamo Minsk in the 1992/93 season and in the season 1994/95. Later, the club was relegated twice, in 2002 and 2004, from the top league from, but in each case succeeded in the following season, the direct re-emergence.

His biggest success of FK Vitebsk in 1998 by winning the Belarusian Cup, where they prevailed in the final 2-1 after extra time against Dinamo Minsk. In Europe Cup Winners' Cup 1998/99 the team failed then in qualifying at Levski Sofia. They lost their first game at international level in Sofia with 1:8, the second leg at home finished 1-1.

In the Intertoto Cup in 1999, the club played one more time internationally. Here one difference in the first round with 1:2 and 1:1 against NK Varteks Varaždin Croatia.

In the 2011 season, you had to go against Partizan Minsk the transition to the second division after the penultimate place in the league and then lost the relegation matches.
