History

The FC Wels was founded during the championship in 2003 by the merger of the traditional clubs Eintracht SK and FC Union. Long before it was always discussed over a large club in Wels, since it also gives the WSC Hertha, ESV catfish and Blue catfish Elf addition to these clubs. However, was from a single major club nothing more surprising was then, especially from a political perspective, explosive fusion between the "red" harmony and the "black" Union.

The first Championship 2002/ 03 has been ended on the 12th place in the table, the 2003/ 04 finished the FC Wels the 15th and penultimate rank. 2004/ 05 came on the Wels 13 and 2005/ 06 on the eighth.

In the game year 2006/ 07 Catfish played a decent but not outstanding fall, wintered on the 5th Place. Due to the large residue on the top of the Welser did not seek to obtain a license for the First League. That should take revenge almost: In the second half we won a game after another, led the table until the penultimate round. The league title was indeed still playful Through a defeat on the final day, the runner-up is yet the biggest success of the fledgling club's history. In the 2012/13 season but the club played viertklassig after he had descended nearly a year ago.
