FC Yerevan

The FC Yerevan ( Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Երեւան - Futbolayin Akumb Yerevan ) was a football club from the Armenian capital Yerevan. It was founded in 1995 and played for five years in the Bardsragujn chumb, the top division in Armenia. 1997 FC Yerevan Armenian champion, in 2000 the club was disbanded.

History

In the first two seasons 1995/96 and 1996/ 97 in the top tier of the country of Yerevan FC reached third place respectively. The placement entitled the FC Yerevan to participate in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup 1997/98. However, the two games were clearly lost ( 1:6, 0:2 ) against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk of Ukraine.

After switching to the annual rhythm in the league of FC Yerevan won the 1997 Armenian Championship. In the season 1998/99 the capital club thus took part in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, but lost 0-2 and 0-3 against the Finnish representative HJK Helsinki. In the season 1998 Yerevan reached the third place in the championship and had to in Armenian Cup competition until the final Master cement Ararat defeated with 1:3.

In the season 1999/2000 was followed by a renewed participation in the qualification for the UEFA Cup. The FC Yerevan they lost 0:2 and 1:2 against Hapoel Tel Aviv of Israel and thus remained winless after six international matches. In the 1999 season, the club reached in fifth place in the league.

2000, the association was dissolved. Players generally shared to the other clubs in the city.
