Federal Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture

The as Federal Ministry of Education and Women (in short " Ministry of Education " ) designated Austrian administration federal institution is primarily responsible for the school as well as the concerns of women's rights. It emerged on March 1, 2014 the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture; the woman 's responsibilities have been transferred from the jurisdiction of the Federal Chancellery.

The Department is one of the oldest in Austria, it was already in the Empire in 1848 (Revolution ) established as a general Ministry of Culture, and was responsible for Cisleithania from 1867 ( balance ). 1919-1923, at the beginning of the First Republic, it was connected with the Interior Ministry. Since 1970 ( establishment of a Science Ministry of higher education ) it is designed specifically for education (hence " Ministry of Education " ) is responsible, only from 2000 to 2007 there was again a total Ministry of Education together with cultural affairs.

In the presently reigning government Faymann is Gabriele Heinisch -Hosek II ( SPÖ) Minister of Education and women. Your sworn in on 15 December 2013.

Minister of Education of the Second Republic were among others Drimmel Heinrich ( 1954-1964 ), Alois Mock ( 1969-1970 ), Fred Sinowatz ( 1971-1983 ), Helmut Zilk ( 1983-1984 ), Erhard Busek (1994 to 1995), Elisabeth Gehrer (1995 to 2007) and Claudia Schmied (2007 to 2013).

Competencies

The BMUKK is responsible for:

  • Education School maintenance, Schuler direction and school abandonment with the exception of school maintenance
  • Education and training as well as service examination of teachers; Universities of Teacher Education (formerly Teacher training colleges ).
  • Federal participation in matters of employment law and the creation of job plans for state teachers ( unless they fall within the responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management)
  • Kindergarten and after-school nature ( unless they fall within the competence of the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs )

For higher education, the Federal Ministry of Science and Research is responsible in Austria.
