Federal Police (Mexico)

The Federal Police ( Policía Federal spanish, short PF ) is a police order THE SERVICE organ of government in Mexico, which is subordinated directly to the Secretaría de Seguridad today Pública (SSP).

History and tasks

Founded as Policía Federal Preventiva

The PF was established in December 1998 as the Policía Federal Preventiva (PFP, dt: Federal Police ) composed under President Ernesto Zedillo with the aim of maintaining the internal security of military and police components of the federal and legitimized in January 1999. Approx. 5000 men came from the area of the military, especially from the 3rd brigade of the military police. Restructuring the Policía Federal

The Policía Federal consists of the following departments:

2010 included the Policía Federal at about 35,000 officers. A Comisionado General ( General Manager ), which is used directly by the President of Mexico, heads with wide-ranging powers the institution. Criticism
