Federal Territories (Malaysia)

Kuala Lumpur, whose territory is surrounded by the state of Selangor, was given its own administration through a constitutional amendment on February 1, 1974. In 1995, the Malaysian government Selangor bought another 46 miles from ² of land to build the new seat of government Putrajaya. In 1984 the island Labuan was declared the Federal Territory off the northern coast of Borneo as an offshore financial center. All three territories are subject to the Federal Territories Ministry of Malaysia.

In the Malaysian Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur additional name is prefixed.
