Federal Way is a city in King County in the U.S. state of Washington. The city is located on Puget Sound between Seattle and Tacoma and has 83 088 inhabitants ( 2005). The city is considered as a suburb of Seattle, although it is closer to Tacoma. The city is the seat of the Forestry Group Weyerhaeuser.

History

The city was first mentioned in 1929. The name derives from its location on U.S. Highway 99 (now Washington State Highway 99). In 1931 was opened in the Federal Way Federal Way High School, part of the School District in Federal Way School District.
