Federation of European Biochemical Societies

The Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS, Federation of European biochemical societies ) is a European umbrella organization of professional societies in the field of biochemistry. Its membership includes 36 subsidiaries and seven associated associations, representing a total of about 40,000 members. The German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Austrian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Swiss Society for Biochemistry are members of the FEBS since its founding in 1964.

The FEBS organizes training courses, exchange programs for scientists and scientific congresses. It promotes in particular the research in Eastern Europe and in developing countries by providing financial support to young scientists with research stays in Western Europe and by a recycling program for laboratory equipment. In addition, it publishes the journals FEBS Journal, FEBS Letters and Molecular Oncology and gives scholarships and various awards and prizes.
