Federation of the Greens
The Federazione dei Verdi is an existing 1990 green party in Italy. Since 2009, the party is represented more in any national or European Parliament.
In the parliamentary elections of 2001, the Federazione dei Verdi joined together with the Socialisti Democratici Italiani (SDI ) as an electoral alliance Il Girasole, reaching 9 mandates in the camera for the left coalition The Olive.
2004-2009 presented the party two MEPs: Sepp Kusstatscher and Monica Frassoni.
In the parliamentary elections of 2006, the Greens won as part of the victorious left coalition L' Unione 2.1% of the vote and won 15 of 630 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, as well as 5 of 315 senators. In the government under Romano Prodi provide the Greens with Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio the Environment Minister.
In the parliamentary elections of 2008, the Federazione dei Verdi joined with the left parties Partito della Rifondazione Comunista (PRC), Sinistra Democrática (SD) and Partito dei Comunisti Italiani ( PdCl ) to list La Sinistra - L' Arcobaleno together. After landslide losses, the party was represented more in any of the two chambers of parliament.
On 16 March 2009, the Greens the Sinistra e Libertà new list connection joined for the European elections. However, even this alliance could not reach a seat in the European Parliament.
At the parliamentary elections of 2013, the Federazione di Verdi came into the compiled by Ingroia alliance Revulozione Civile together with PRC, PdCl, Italia dei Valori and the ( IdV ), but the alliance could not exceed the national 4- percent threshold. The Green Party of South Tyrol (Verdi Green Editions ), however, appeared together with Sinistra Ecologia Libertà in Pier Luigi Bersani coalition Lista Bene Comune and could provide the only Green Party MPs in Italy with Florian Kronbichler. On March 23, 2013, the South Tyrolean Greens make the final break with the Federazione dei Verdi, at its inception, it had been involved in 1990.
