Federico Boyd

Federico Boyd (* September 24, 1851 in Panama City, † May 25, 1924 in New York City ) was the fourth President of the Republic of Panama.

Boyd was a descendant of Irish-Scottish immigrants who had immigrated to the time of the California gold rush. After graduating, he went into the civil service. In 1903 he was a member of the revolutionary junta and was as Vice President automatically after the unexpected death of President Carlos Antonio Mendoza from 1 to 5 October 1910 five days the new President. His successor was Pablo Arosemena Alba.

After his retirement as President, he served as ambassador to Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. From 1911 to 1912 he was also Foreign Minister of Panama. Boyd is also the father of the 18th President Augusto Samuel Boyd.
