RPM Fusion is a software repository for Linux distributions, Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS. With package management tools like YUM or PackageKit packaged in RPM packages application software or system components can be searched for on the RPM Fusion servers are installed and updated.

Software offer

The software package includes programs and system components that are not included for various reasons in the said distributions. Examples:

  • Fglrx driver, is proprietary software, which is a violation of the licensing policy of the distributions.

History

On 8 November 2007, the software repositories Livna, Freshrpms and Dribble decided to unite in order to pool resources and eliminate dependency and compatibility issues. Ready the common RPM Fusion repository but was not until the end of 2008 before the release of Fedora 10

Freshrpms was founded in 2000 by Matthias Saou, originally for his own use.
