The Fehla at Neufra

The Fehla, or Vehla, is to Lauchert ( tributary of the Danube ) right side tributärer Bach on the Zollernalb in Baden- Württemberg.

Fehla source

The Fehla source is located just one kilometer east of the main European watershed within the city Burladingen ( the Starzel flows in the western municipality direction Neckar). The aboveground course of Fehla begins in the city center, Jose Street. There is a large karst spring, with an average bed of 500 liters per second ( min. 10 l / s, max. 1,350 l / s).

Course

The creek flows through the urban area of Burladingen to the east.

On the 14 km to the mouth ( air line, 100 m downhill) the Fehla flows mostly sluggish, meandering greatly - especially between Gauselfingen and Neufra and again two kilometers below Neufra. The mouth of the Fehla in Lauchert located south of Hettingen. Before the confluence of the creek and the springing from the protected Massenkalk - Geotop Enzenbarnfelsen small fish pond springs feed nor the basin of a fish farm.

Conservation

Two kilometers below Neufra, on their last three kilometers ( direct distance) meanders the Fehla strong again by a complete after NatSchG Baden -Württemberg protected nature reserve Fehlatal. The protected, completely car - free and ground- flood plain is a quaint, very popular, hiking destination.

Hydrogeology

Since the topography is completely karstified on both sides of the valley of the entire Fehla, there are over only one open, and four other small source combined to supply drinking water sources, but aboveground feeds for only a short time after heavy rain. In the last 3 km, in the protected natural flood plain about a quarter of the water seeps into the fissured karst rock ( date streamflow measurements Okt. 2003). Dyeing tests showed that the water in the fish pond sources of mouth and also 1 km below, in the wholesale karst spring of Hermentingen, gallic source resurfaces.
