Felanitx

Felanitx is a municipality in the east of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca. It has 17 359 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). In 2006, the foreigners in the community was 15.9 % ( 2,697 ), the proportion of German population 4.3% ( 730). The eponymous main town lies to the west at the foot of the mountain range of " Serres de Llevant ". Other villages are scattered on the nearly 170 -acre municipal area. Of particular note is the harbor town of Porto Colom.

Felanitx is the birthplace of the visual artist Miquel Barceló Artigues and Guillem Sagrera sculptor, builder and architect of the Gothic.

A few kilometers south-east of the village of Felanitx is located on the mountain Puig de Sant Salvador monastery, the Sanctuary of Sant Salvador, founded in 1342, and to another mountain peaks of the Serres de Llevant the ruins of Castell de Santueri.
