Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is situated in 285-598 meters above sea level on the northern slope of the Vogelsberg. Through the village flows the Felda, which opens at Gemünden in the ohms.

Neighboring communities

Feldatal bordered to the north by the town of Romrod, in the north- east on the community Schwalmtal, in the east on the community Lauter, to the south by the city Ulrich Stein, on the southwest by the municipality of mosquito, and on the northwest by the municipality Gemünden.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Ermenrod, wholesale Felda with the district Schell Hausen, Kestrich, Köddingen, Stumpertenrod, Windshausen and Zeilbach.

History

Feldatal was at 31 December 1971 as part of the municipal reform, as the communities Ermenrod, wholesale Felda, Kestrich, Köddingen, Stumpertenrod, Windshausen and Zeilbach were merged to form the new local authority area.

The parish council consists of 7 members and the mayor. Of this, two seats on the SPD, two seats on the CDU, 3 seats on the FWG.

Mayor

The Mayor Dietmar Schlosser ( FWG ) was chosen on 16 May 2010, with a vote share of 67.1 %.

Coat of arms

Blazon: "In a red gold blue crowned Jungfrau Adler, topped with a heart-shaped shield, is in a silver tilted blue mallets, up and down diagonally to the left accompanied with two blue nails. "

Coat Explanation: The heart shield refers to the former craft of nail blacksmith in the village, which was still practiced until the early 20th century, the blue crowned Jungfrau eagle comes from the coat of arms of the extinct noble family of Mörlau ( Merleau ), which was well off here in the Middle Ages.

  • Half-timbered church in Ermenrod
  • In Stumpertenrod is the largest timber-framed church in Hesse. The church was built in 1696 in baroque style. The church has a roof turret in which hang three bells. The organ inside the church dates from the year 1840.
