Feldkirchen bei Mattighofen is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Braunau am Inn in Innviertel with 1886 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The competent court is the district court district Mattighofen.

Geography

Feldkirchen bei Mattighofen is located on 509 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 8.6 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.6 km. The total area is 34.6 km ². 23.1% of the area is forested, 70.8 % of the area is used for agriculture.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Aschau, Feldkirchen bei Mattighofen, Gstaig, Vormoosen and Wiesing.

Coat of arms

Official description of the municipality coat of arms: In a red gold crown with silver and blue horizontal gerautetem headband. The municipality colors are red and yellow. The award of the municipality coat of arms was resolved by the Upper Austrian Provincial Government on 18 June 1973.

The crown refers to the former importance as the center of a field Kirchen's already passed in the Carolingian king good; the diamonds in the circlet of the crown reminiscent of the former membership of the Innviertel to Bavaria. The crest was designed by Martin Stachl from Braunau am Inn.

History

In the year 757 was in Mattighofen a royal Palatinate. 1007 Mattigau has been paid to the bishopric of Bamberg and settled again thence the Franconia and Swabia. For many years belonged Mattighofen and thus Feldkirchen Bavaria. The Peace of Teschen in 1779 the entire Innviertel came to Austria.

Mayor is Franz Harner of the ÖVP since 8 October 1996.

In 1991, the municipality had 1743 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1832 inhabitants.

Personalities

The head of the Trapp Family Singers, Monsignor Franz Wasner, was born on December 28, 1905 in Feldkirchen. He was awarded the honorary citizenship of the community; he died on June 21, 1992 in Salzburg.

Club Life

Feldkirchen bei Mattighofen has a very strong community life.

In addition to the volunteer fire department, the Kameradschaftsbund, the gymnastic and sporting Union with various branches ( Turner, section curling, Section tennis, section football, section Table Tennis, ..) and the local band can be found in Feldkirchen also three mines ( Zechkameradschaft Gstaig, Zechkameradschaft Aschau and Zechkameradschaft Vormoos ) and the Goldhaubengruppe, the women wearing headscarves, the Senior Citizens' Association, the senior ring Pensionistenverband and plate club Aschau. Also, a country youth group is represented in Feldkirchen. Furthermore, there are in Feldkirchen a beekeeper club, the FSAT ( Driving Club Steyr Old tractors ) and various choirs ( Con Brio choir, church choir, singing group Feldkirchen ...) and the Parents' Association. Other important components of the Feldkirchner club life are the Fingerhaklerverein, the hunting party Feldkirchen and the local peasantry or the Ortsbäurinnen. There are also horse lovers as well as the self-help association for fire cases.

In the seemingly endless list there is also the theater newly formed association and the Volksbildungswerk Feldkirchen.
