Feldtelefon 50

The field telephone 50 ( 50 FTF ) is a field telephone that is used in the Swiss Army. It takes its name from the year 1950, in which it was produced for the first time.

Components

The field telephone 50 is packed in a rectangular box -shaped protective casing of green canvas on which a strap is fastened from the same material. Inside is the actual phone that is powered by a 1.5 - volt battery. When answering device, the so-called Mikrotel, a common handset with earpiece and microphone serves. Use

For the former variant, two field telephones are connected with telephone wire.

In the second variant the phone is connected to specially reserved for the army lines. There is now a link to it from any telephone possible. When connected to the common in the army telephone 85 also all phone numbers from the phone box can be called. If only a normal telephone connection available, the phone can also be coupled with the Wählscheibenzusatz the army phone 53 ( ATF53 ). In addition to the separate Wählscheibenzusatz the ATF 53 is technically identical to the FTF50. However, it is not weather resistant as the FTF50 and more suitable for bunker cabling due to its sheet metal housing.
