Felice Leonardo

Felice Leonardo ( born March 9, 1915 in Pietramelara, province of Caserta, Italy) is a retired Roman Catholic bishop of the diocese of Cerreto Sannita - Telese Sant'Agata de ' Goti.

Life

Felice Leonardo received on 24 July 1938, the ordination. During the Second World War, he was pastor of San Giovanni Battista di Roccamonfina in Monte Cassino. After the war he became rector of the local seminary.

In 1957 he was called by Pope Pius XII. appointed bishop of the Diocese of Telese o Cerreto Sannita. He received his episcopal consecration Adeodato Cardinal Giovanni Piazza OCD; Were co-consecrators Matteo Guido Sperandeo, Bishop of Calvi e Teano, and Giacomo Palombella, Archbishop of Matera. In 1986 he was appointed bishop of the diocese of Sant'Agata de ' Goti. From 1962 to 1965 Leonardo took part in the Second Vatican Council. After the Council, he tried to implement the decisions taken there in his diocese and his life. He devoted himself primarily to the pastoral care of families.

On November 19, 1979, he founded an institute for religious studies in which since then many catechists and religion teachers were trained.

By merging the formerly independent dioceses Telese o Cerreto Sannita and Sant'Agata de ' Goti the diocese of Cerreto Sannita - Telese Sant'Agata de' Goti on 30 September 1986 he became the first bishop of the new diocese based in Cerreto Sannita.

His resignation was accepted on July 20, 1991, Pope John Paul II. A year before that Leonardo had prescribed the occasion of his 75th birthday, as in canon law, submitted a letter of resignation.
