Felipe Reyes

Felipe Reyes Cabanas ( born March 16, 1980 in Córdoba, Andalusia ) is a Spanish professional basketball player. The 2.06 m tall center / power forward plays for Real Madrid.

Career

Felipe Reyes began his career in the youth of the Madrid Club Baloncesto Estudiantes traditional club. His debut for the first team he celebrated on October 4, 1998 in a league game against TAU Vitoria. Despite his young age, he quickly rose to a fixed size at Estudiantes on, won 1999/2000 Spanish Cup and brought it into the league in the season 2002/ 03 to an average of 16.9 points and 10.4 rebounds. In summer 2004, Reyes moved to city rivals Real Madrid, where he won the league title in his first season. National

Felipe Reyes was already playing as a junior successfully for the Spanish national team. In 1998, he won the junior gold medal at the European Championships, followed in 1999, the Junior World Champion title. On August 17, 2001 Reyes made ​​his debut for the senior national team in a friendly match against Israel. With his country, he won yet again gold at the World Basketball Championship ( 2006), two gold medals (2009, 2011), two silvers (2003, 2007) and one bronze (2001) at European Championships and silver medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and 2012 in London. With eight medals at major events he is, along with Pau Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro, one of the most successful players in the history of Spanish basketball.

His older brother Alfonso Reyes nine years was also a well-known professional basketball player. He also began his career at Estudiantes and played from 2002 to 2004 for Real Madrid. In the Spanish national team brought it to a total of 140 missions.
