Felix Hoffmann (illustrator)

Felix Hoffmann ( born April 18, 1911 in Aarau, † June 16, 1975 ) was a Swiss graphic designer and artist.

Life

Hoffmann was the son of Aargau music director Emil Adolf Hoffmann. He attended the district school in Aarau and 1931, the Basel School. From 1931 to 1933 he attended art school in Karlsruhe, where he trained in the woodcut. From 1933 to 1934 Hoffmann attended the State School for Free and Applied Arts Berlin. From 1935 he worked as a " graphic designer and freelance artist " in Aarau.

Hoffmann created numerous children's book illustrations, illustrations of literature (among the only of Thomas Mann authorized Illustration from The Magic Mountain ) and stained-glass windows, frescoes and etchings.
