Felix Hollenstein

Felix Hollenstein ( born April 7, 1965) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who four times won the Swiss championship with the EHC Kloten. From 2004 to 2012, he was an assistant coach at the Kloten Flyers, since February 2013 he has been head coach of the team. During his playing career Hollenstein played 650 games in the National League A and 131 matches in which he scored 47 goals. His son Denis Hollenstein is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Felix Hollenstein began his career with the EHC Bülach, for whom he played until 1985. He then moved to EHC Kloten, where he was to remain faithful for the rest of his active career. Between 1993 and 1996 he won the Swiss championship with his team four times in a row. He was doing the best Swiss playoff scorer in 1996. He also served twice in his career best scorer in the Swiss NLA qualification.

In his last season 2001 /02 he came only to use one during the NLA qualifiers due to a knee injury. During the playoffs that season, he returned for a game back on the ice - with the score at 0-6 in the sixth semi-final game of the series against HC Davos. The Flyers lost the game yet, resigned from the playoffs and Hollenstein ended his career.

From then on he worked as a youth coach of the Flyers before he was promoted to assistant coach of the Flyers in 2004. 2012 had Hollenstein leave the Flyers, as the new owner of the financially hard-hit club began a new start with new people. In February 2013 he was brought back to the club as coach, replacing Tomas Tamfal. Hollenstein signed a contract for two years.

Internationally

Felix Hollenstein belonged 1988-1997 the core of the Swiss national ice hockey team. He played seven World Championships, the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 and the Olympic qualification in 1997. Overall, he completed 131 caps for Switzerland, where reach 47 goals him.
