Felix village is a market town in the district of Wiener Neustadt- Land in Lower Austria with 4248 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

The market town of Felix village located in the southern industrial area in the stone field about 10 km north of Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria. With 2.48 square kilometers in area, it is the fourth-smallest municipality in Lower Austria. 10.66 percent of the area is forested.

There are no other cadastral except Felix village.

The southern boundary of the municipality runs partly along a side branch of the Tyrolean Bach. Along the northern edge of the village flows the main run of the Piesting, just west of the bridge crossing the Moor Street drives the water turbine of a hydroelectric power plant. The standing with the power plant in conjunction weir divides the Piesting in two side arms, between which is a completely overgrown with riparian forest island is located. Just before the bridge of the Southern Railway, under which the Piesting flows in the northwest corner of the township, both side arms meet again.

All along the river course grows denser, natural lowland forest, which has become rare in the southern Vienna Basin. History

Before Christ's birth, the area was part of the Celtic kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the area of the Celtic hillfort castle on the Schwarzenbacher Castle Hill.

The territory of Felix village is part of Steinfeld and originally belonged to the municipality of Wiener Neustadt. To use this area, were established on the initiative of Wiener Neustadt mayor Felix Mießl in 1821 the village of Felix village. The settlement should have been originally called in honor of the Emperor Francis I. Traffic

Association for the Protection of the floodplain forest and the environment in Felix village

This association exists since 5 April 2007, and was able to change some construction projects or prevent their implementation. It involves a non-partisan and non-profit association. Chairman of the association is Gustav Schranz. He is supported by the representatives Fritz Harrer and Bernd Hrabal, the cashier Susanna Stoeger and numerous other members.

The association describes itself and its activities as follows: The organization places an emphasis on the protection and preservation of the floodplain forest villages Felix and all dedicated as grassland - forest areas of the community. In addition, the association wants to act as a self-help organization of citizens in connection with their natural resources.

Our forest is a main livelihood in Felix village. He not only takes water during heavy rains and protects our communities from wind and noise but produces oxygen for us or dust-free air and provides us with important recreational area.
