Etymology
The name is derived from skins of a plural form of Middle High German velt, means the field.

History
Skins, first mentioned in 1244, was a part of the county Rieneck until 1559 came to Mainz, which sold it in 1673 to the Counts of Nostic. They sold it in 1803 to the Count Colloredo- Mansfeld. 1806 was mediated within the Principality of Aschaffenburg and fell with this 1814 Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community to which the hamlet Wohnrod heard. Rengersbrunn settled integrate voluntarily on July 1, 1972.
