Femi Opabunmi

Femi Opabunmi ( born March 3, 1985 in Lagos) is a Nigerian football player.

Career

Opabunmi began his footballing career during his training at the Methodist High School Ibadan for the high school team Old Boys in 1997. Midfielder took in 2001 with Nigeria at the U -17 World Cup and was able to take second place behind France with his team. He was about the key players in the Nigerian youth team for which he scored five goals in the course of the tournament. He was so behind the Frenchman Florent Sinama Pongolle, the second highest scorer in the World Championship and finished in a vote for player of the tournament in third place. His performances aroused the attention of top European clubs and he moved in the year 2001 by his Nigerian club Shooting Stars FC to Switzerland for Grasshopper Club Zurich. There he stood until 2004 under contract to subsequently switch to Israeli club Hapoel Be'er Sheva. There he held it does not last long and he left the club after half a year in the direction of the French second division Chamois Niortais. There he played until 2006 then to his home club Shooting Stars FC return. In spring 2007, the attacking midfielder ended his career due to persistent knee problems. However, since March 2010 he has been working on his comeback and since then keeps at 3SC fit.

Opabunmi took with the Nigerian national football team participated in the World Cup in 2002 and was the youngest World Cup participants there. He arrived there in the final group game 0-0 against England as his sole use.
