History

1297 Fendels was documented for the first time as an exclave of the Hanseatic League. The Romansh embossed center with closely built, brick houses lost by fires in 1939 and 1972, its original character, are in the area but still typical courtyards. A road in 1959 brought in the remote village that was previously only accessible by a cable car, a connection to the outside. A Skiliftbau served as an impetus for the development of tourism.

Fendels was originally part of the judicial district of Ried in Tirol and, after the dissolution of the judicial district of Ried in 1978 part of the judicial district of Landeck.
