Fenoarivo Atsinanana, also Fenerive -Est or shortly called Fenerive, is a seaside resort in the region Analanjirofo in Madagascar.

The city is located 103 km north of Toamasina ( Tamatave) along the national road 5

Economy

Fenerive -Est is one of the most popular seaside resorts of Madagascar.

The area of Fenoarivo Atsinanana is one of the main areas for growing cloves. Furthermore, coffee is also grown in the area.

History

In the 17th century Fenerive -Est was a pirate harbor. The first king of Betsimisaraka, Ratsimilaho, was a son of a privateer and a local princess. The King is buried on the small island of Nosy Hely, the former stronghold of the pirates ( Vohimasina ) can be visited there.
