Feral (2012 film)

Feral is an American animated short film directed by Daniel Sousa in 2012.

Action

A pack of wolves chasing a deer, kill it and it begins to eat. A wild boy watching the scenery, a wolf approaching him and the boy starts to like the wolf to communicate. Their meeting is interrupted by gunfire. A hunter appears in the forest and approaches the boy. This bites the man first in the hand, can be of him but then with the city close to the wooded area take. Here the boy is bathed, he gets a haircut, food and clothing. The man brings him to school, where the boy is an outsider. He can not communicate with the other children. When confronted on the playground with a kid who wants to get it just rolled his ball, designed for the wild boys a confrontation situation, he can only meet with Knurrlauten, snarl and attitude on all fours. The children laugh at him at first, but then you will fear. As punishment, the wild boy is locked up in a barn. Here he brings the hunter off after some time - the boy flees. On the run to solve his clothes from him, he turns into a white wolf, a bird, a leaf, and finally goes into the swirling air in dust, as the snow falls down later on the ground. Not far from the city, in the woods, the wolves begin to howl.

Production

The work on Feral took around five years to complete. The film was first animated in Flash. Each frame (24 frames per second) was printed and traced with pencil. Then scanned Sousa the resulting images and added them together again. The backgrounds of the film originated in acrylic on paper. Like most films Sousa also comes from Feral without dialogue.

The film was first performed in August 2012 at the Animation Film Festival linoleum in Moscow. It was followed by numerous international festival performances, including a 2012 performance at the Cutout International Animation Festival in Mexico, and in 2013 at the Sundance Film Festival and the Festival d' Animation Annecy.
