Ferdinand Freiherr von Miller

Ferdinand Miller, 1875 and Miller from 1912 Freiherr von Miller ( born June 8, 1842 in Munich, † December 18, 1929 in Munich ) was an ore caster, sculptor and director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He was also the Imperial Council of the Crown of Bavaria and Bavarian royal captain.

Family

Miller came from a family from the Upper Bavarian Aichach and was the son of the brass founder and chief inspector of the Royal Erzgießerei in Munich, Ferdinand von Miller (1813-1887), and Anna Miller born Pösl ( 1815-1890 ). With the elevation of the father in the hereditary Bavarian nobility on October 12, 1875 his children were simultaneously raised to the peerage, which jun except Ferdinand von Miller. also the engineer Oskar von Miller and the chemist Wilhelm von Miller scored.

Life

Miller received his training from his father in Munich, was the first inspector at the Royal Erzgießerei there. He continued his studies in Paris, London and most recently in Dresden at Ernst Hähnel. Then Miller took study trips to Italy and North America. He created about seventy stills.

In the years 1900 to 1919 he was director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He was Imperial Council of the Bavarian crown and council in Munich. In 1922 he took over the presidency of the society of artists Allotria.

Was buried Ferdinand Freiherr von Miller in the family of Miller in the graveyard of Winthirkirche in Munich's Neuhausen, where his brother Oscar is buried grave.
