Ferdinand Kirchhof

Ferdinand Kirchhof ( born June 21, 1950 in Osnabrück ) is a German jurist, legal scholar and Vice- President of the Federal Constitutional Court.

Family

Ferdinand Kirchhof was born from the marriage of Ferdinand Kirchhof, who was from 1959 to 1979 Judge of the Federal Court, and Liselotte, nee Kersten. His elder brother is former judge of the Federal Constitutional Court Paul Kirchhof.

He is with Else Cemetery - Presiding Judge at the Administrative Court of Baden -Württemberg in Mannheim - married and has no children.

Life

Ferdinand Kirchhof studied after graduating from the Bismarck -Gymnasium Karlsruhe at the Albert- Ludwigs- University of Freiburg, Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg and the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer, PhD and became 1971-1985. From 1982 to 1986, he held teaching positions in Saarbrücken, Munich, Speyer and Tübingen. In 1986 he was appointed to the Chair of Public Law, Financial and Tax Law at the Eberhard Karls University. 1989 to 1990 he was Dean of the Law Faculty, 1999-2004 Vice-Rector of the University of Tübingen. Since 1993 he holds the Jean Monnet Chair of European Union Fiscal Law. In 2007 he was a visiting professor ( professeur invité ) at the Sorbonne; He graduated from teaching and research in Stellenbosch, Berkeley, Beijing and Kyoto.

From 2003 to 2004 he was an expert of the Commission of the Bundestag and Bundesrat for federal reform. Since 2003 Cemetery judge at the State Court of the State of Baden -Wuerttemberg and as represented by Baden- Württemberg has been involved with the Federal Constitutional Court on the headscarf debate. 2006 to 2007 he was a board member of the Association of German constitutional law teacher.

2005 Ferdinand Kirchhof should at the suggestion of then-Prime Minister of Baden- Württemberg, Erwin Teufel, be appointed as judges of the Federal Constitutional Court. The Minister President of Hesse Roland Koch, however, managed instead to impose his candidate Herbert Landau. 2007 Cemetery was appointed by the Election Committee of the German Bundestag as the successor to Udo Steiner as judges of the First Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court; his office, he took up on 1 October 2007. On 5 March 2010 he was elected Chairman of the First Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court and Vice- President of the Court. He officiated in this capacity since the appointment by the President on 16 March 2010. As a judge of the Constitutional Court, he prepared as competent rapporteur before the judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court of 9 February 2010 on Hartz IV.

Churchyard is a member of the Catholic Student Association since 1971 KDSt.V. Hercynia Freiburg and from 1973-1974, and since 2011 the KDSt.V. Ferdinandea Prague to Heidelberg.
