Ferdinand Mülhens

Ferdinand Mühlens ( born December 23, 1844 in Cologne, † January 15, 1928 in King Winter ) was landowner and entrepreneur residing in King Winter. He was also called " De Naas vun Koelle ".

Biography

Ferdinand Mühlens was first 1872 partners, 1873, after the death of his father Peter Joseph Mühlens finally the sole holder of, founded by his grandfather, Wilhelm Mühlens Cologne water and perfume factory in Glockenstrasse under the name Franz Maria Farina. Under his leadership, the company expanded its product range. As the first colognes manufacturers Mühlens also produced personal care products and other scents and put a product advertising. In 1881 he filed for lost names process, the new company " cologne and perfume factory Glockengasse No. 4711 compared to the horses Post by Ferd. Mühlens " into a trade.

4711 became the focus of advertising and eventually became a brand with high recognition value. Towards the end of the 19th century, 4711 has developed into a mass product. 1873 Mühlens received permission to lead the royal coat of arms of the Netherlands. Due to the high quality of its products Ferdinand Mühlens was the title of an imperial Purveyors to the court awarded in 1900. 1902 was the title award of the Shah of Persia in 1906 by the Queen Mother Margherita of Italy, 1897/1913, the Czar of Russia in 1911 and the King of Romania.

In 1886 he became sole owner of the Winter King Mühlenhof in winter, which he used as a retirement home since 1900. In 1893 he built the " Savoy - Carlton, Berlin " opposite Cologne Cathedral. In 1911 he bought part of Peter the mountain on which he had built another hotel. Under his influence, the Seven Mountains developed into a tourist area. In 1910/11 donated Mühlens the city as King Winter Volkswohl building the Wilhelm Auguste -Viktoria - house. 1913/1914 he was a design by Heinrich Müller- Erkelenz the hotel on the Petersberg, the later the government guest house, was build. Since 1913 he was the owner of Drachenfelsbahn.

Ferdinand Mühlens was from 1922 until his death honorary citizen of King Winter.

His son was the Munich-based furniture manufacturer Heinrich Possenbacher. His son and heir of the company company 4711 was Peter Mühlens, the founder of the stud Röttgen in Cologne- Heumar. His son was the producer Michael DuMont from the publishing dynasty DuMont, the granddaughter of Marietta was married to the Düren district Theodor Beaucamp.
