Ferdinando Acton

Ferdinando Acton (* July 16, 1832 in Naples, † 1891 in Rome) was Italian Admiral and Minister of the Navy.

Life

Acton came from an aristocratic English family that was initially emigrated to Tuscany and then to Naples. His father Carlo was like his grandfather John Acton Admiral of the Navy of the Kingdom of Naples. Ferdinando visited after school the Naval Academy in Naples and in 1849 lieutenant. From 1879 to 1883 he created an Italian Minister of Marine the foundations for the construction of the naval base at Taranto and the associated Naval Arsenal. This 90 -acre facility was put into operation on 22 May 1887.
