Ferenc Deák (footballer)

Ferenc Deák ( born January 16, 1922 in Budapest, † 18 April 1998) was a Hungarian football player.

Career

Deak began his career at AC Szentlőrinci, for whom he played from 1935 to 1947. In the 1945/46 season, he was in 34 league games reach 66 goals this season for the Szentlörinci AC and thus holds the record for the most league goals in a European league. In the 1946/47 season, he was again top scorer, this time with 48 hits. He then moved to Ferencvaros Budapest, for whom he played until 1950. There, he scored 41 goals in his first year.

In his second year at Ferencvaros Budapest, 1948/49, he was then treated with 59 goals for the third time scorer and he won the club championship. In 1950 he moved finally to Újpest Budapest, where he played until 1954. During his career, he played a total of 238 league games ( 1st Division) in which he scored 305 goals. From 1955, he left his career in the second division at Spartacus Budapest, Budapest Egyetertes and finally end with Siofok 1958.

Between 1946 and 1949 he played twenty times for the Hungarian national team and was able to achieve 29 goals. His debut in the national team he had on October 6, 1946 at the international match in Budapest against Austria when he was able to excel in the 2-0 success at the side of Gyula Zsengellér and Ferenc Puskás scored twice as. He belonged to the Hungarian player squad that won the European Cup football teams from 1948 to 1953. With the 5-0 win on 20 November 1949 in Budapest against Sweden - Sándor Kocsis scorers were ( 3), Puskas and Deak - he ended his national team career.
