Fernand Sastre

Fernand Sastre ( born October 1, 1923 in Kouba (Algeria), † 13 June 1998 ) was a French football official. He was president of the French Football Federation ( FFF) and co-organizer of the World Cup 1998. Clairefontaine The power center bears his name.

Sastre, who was a civil servant by profession, his official career began in 1946 at the football club of his hometown Kouba. Over several stations in Algiers and Paris, 1969, he was Secretary General of the FFF. In this role, he reformed along with Henri Patrelle French football by picking up the separation between amateur football and professional football. President of the FFF, he was from 1972 until 1984.
