The Fernando Buesa Arena (until 2000: Pabellón Araba ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Spanish city of Vitoria- Gasteiz, Basque Country. After an expansion between 2011 and 2012, the arena holds to the games of the basketball club Caja Laboral 15,504 visitors.

History

Originally built in 1975 as a cattle market; and was converted into an events hall and opened in 1991. Until 2000 the hall was named Pabellón Araba; after it received the name of the politician Fernando Buesa. He was killed by the Basque separatist group ETA on 22 February 2000 by a car bomb. Around the arena are 2,500 car park and 40 bus parking spaces available. The discharged in the hall event include, inter alia, the Saporta Cup final in 1996, the Final Four tournament in ULEB Eurocup 2010 and the Final Eight Tournament Copa del Rey de Baloncesto 2000, 2002, 2008.

Within a year, the arena has been expanded. For this remote to the domed roof; a fourth bleacher stand complements and increases the capacity to approximately 15,000 seats. In March 2011, construction began. The costs were estimated at approximately € 25 million. In early April 2012, the reopening of the enlarged arena took place. In the first game on April 9, Caja Laboral, the home team defeated the team of Real Madrid before 15,504 spectators at 67:66. With the crowd of spectators of 15,504 visitors would be established for the Spanish ACB league, a new record.
