Fernando Cabrita

Fernando da Silva Cabrita ( born May 1, 1923 in Lagoa; † August 12, 1992 ) was a Portuguese footballer and football coach.

Career

Cabrita began his career in 1942, during the Second World War, at SC Olhanense. Six years after the war, he left his native Portugal and played for two years at the French club Angers SCO. Then he returned to Portugal and even played four years at SC Covilhã.

Then Cabrita got into coaching. In 1983 he took over the Portuguese national team. He led the team to the European Football Championship in 1984 in France, where the Portuguese were eliminated in the semifinals.

Cabrita died 1992.
