Fernando Cerchio

Fernando Cerchio ( born August 7, 1914 in Luserna San Giovanni; † August 19, 1974 in Mentana ) was an Italian screenwriter, film director and producer.

Life

Cerchio studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti. He was interested in experimental films and aroused in 1936 with the animated film Notturno the attention of film critics. Since 1937, he studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia at Alessandro Blasetti.

Since 1938, Cerchio worked for the Istituto Luce, for which he produced several documentaries. The film Comacchio was awarded in Venice and Paris. His first major feature film, which he also wrote the screenplay, which Cenerentola (1948 ). By 1972, created more than thirty feature films, including Gente così from a script by Giovanni Guareschi and the crime film Il bivio. In addition, Cerchio turned to the mid-1950s, numerous documentaries.
