Fernando Gómez

Fernando Gómez Colomer, called Fernando, ( born September 11, 1965 in Valencia ) is a former Spanish footballer.

Career

Clubs

Fernando played in his youth for FC Valencia and was to spend the majority of his career there as well. In January 1984, he made ​​his debut in the first team. After the descent in the 1985/86 season was Fernando under coach Alfredo Di Stéfano to the focal point of the Valencia game. As a result of the direct resurgence, the Spaniard also developed in the Primera División a real playmaker with goalscoring. Then Valencia was twice runner-up five times and took part in the UEFA Cup. 1989 won the Don Fernando Balón Award as Spain's footballer of the year. In 1995 he reached the final of the Valencia Copa del Rey.

1998 Fernando left the club and moved for a year to England to Wolverhampton Wanderers. His career ended in 2000 at CD Castellón.

National

Fernando went through the junior national teams of Spain. He participated in the Junior World Cup in 1985 and was runner-up. In 1989 he made ​​his debut in the senior team. In 1990 he was part of the squad that contested the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
