Fernando Pascoal Neves

Fernando Pascoal Neves, better known under the name Pavão ( born August 12, 1947 in Chaves, † December 16, 1973 in Porto ), was a Portuguese footballer.

Fernando Pascoal Neves began his career as a teenager at Desportivo de Chaves in his home town in the district of Vila Real, near the Portuguese northern border. Already the age of seventeen he was obliged from FC Porto for which he first played in the junior team. The highlight of his footballing career, he reached four years later in the 1967/68 season, when he lifted the trophy in the city on the Douro Porto in the final with a 2-1 win against Vitória Setúbal.

In the 13th minute of the 13th game of the season 1973 /74 FC Porto against the same opponent Pavão fell, which was known to play his opponent with his arms outstretched, suddenly without the action of an opponent after a pass play to his teammate António Oliveira on the lawn. He was taken from the Estádio das Antas in the São João Hospital, where he could not be saved despite the initiated resuscitation.
