Fernando Peyroteo

Fernando Baptista de Seixas Peyroteo de Vasconcelos ( born March 10, 1918 in Humpata, Angola, † 28 November 1978) was a Portuguese football player. Peyroteo is one of the greatest strikers in the Portuguese football history.

Career

Club teams

He began his career at Sporting Luanda in Angola, before he came to Sporting Lisbon at the age of 19 years. There he formed with Jesus Correia, Vasques, Albano and José Travassos the so-called " Cinco Violinos " ( "Five Violins "). After twelve years at Sporting, he moved in 1949 to the city rivals Belenenses Lisbon. There, however, he was not happy and finished to become a coach after one season his active football career.

In 1961 he took over briefly in succession by Armando Ferreira, the position of national coach. In his first game, a qualifier for the 1962 World Cup in Chile on 8 October 1961 in Luxembourg Portugal defeated the hosts 6-0. This Eusébio made ​​his debut, but remained without a goal. National
