Fernando Quejas

Fernando Quejas [ fɨɾnɐdu keʒɐʃ ] ( * 1922 in Cape Verde, † October 28, 2005 in Lisbon, Portugal) was a singer and songwriter from the Cape Verde Islands.

Quejas moved in 1947 from his home on the west coast of Africa to Portugal. Published by the Portuguese label Alvorado 22 albums in the 1950s. In the 1960s and 1970s he had numerous appearances around the world. He was one of the most renowned singer of melancholy Mornas, a blues style of Cape Verde.

Quejas 1945 was one of the founders of the first radio station Radio Clube de Cabo Verde ( Praia Radio ) in the Cape Verde Islands.
