Ferrari F50
The F50 is a car model of the Italian car manufacturer Ferrari. It was built between 1996 and 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the company in a limited quantity of 349 vehicles and officially sold only to selected customers. The original price of the vehicle was the equivalent of approximately 380,000 euros.
The hard top of the vehicle can be removed to turn it into an open two-seater.
The F50 is a lot of Formula 1 technology. The body is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. This provides a tremendous rigidity. The tires of the dimension 335/30 ZR 18 (rear ) sitting on the rim of an aluminum -magnesium alloy, the wheel hubs are made of titanium.
The successor of the F50 is the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari, the predecessor of the F50 is the Ferrari F40.

The 4.7 - liter V12 mid-engine provides 383 kW of F50 (520 hp) at 8500 rpm and is technically based on the Formula 1 engine, which was until 1993 used by Ferrari. Compared to the Formula 1 engine, the maximum speed of the engine was lowered from 15000/min on 8700/min and increases the displacement. The 12- cylinder engine having an engine block made of cast iron is designed as a V-engine with an angle of 65 °. The engine has a bore of 85 mm and a stroke of 69 mm. He works with a compression ratio of 11.3:1. Forged from lightweight pistons were made by Mahle. The connecting rods are forged from titanium. The engine has five valves per cylinder ( three intake and two exhaust ). The force is transmitted to the rear axle via a manual six-speed gearbox. The brake system is equipped with internally ventilated disc brakes. At the front discs with a diameter of 355 mm are used on the rear axle with 335 mm. The braking system is Brembo by the manufacturer. The F50 was equipped from the factory with one-piece magnesium wheels with central locking. At the front wheels are in size 8.5 x 18 with tires in size 245/35 ZR 18 mounted on the rear axle wheels in size 13,0 × 18 with tires in size 335/30 ZR 18 from the factory, there were Goodyear and Bridgestone.
The power to weight ratio of 2.53 kg / hp and is slightly higher than the previous model F40 because of the heavier and larger engine. On the in-house test track in Fiorano Ferrari gave a lap time of 1:27.1 minutes for the F50; thus about 2.5 seconds faster than its direct predecessor.
