Ferrovial

Ferrovial S. A. ( Grupo Ferrovial ) is a Spanish construction company based in Madrid. Ferrovial is listed in the financial index IBEX 35.

The company operates among others in the industry areas of construction, infrastructure and real estate development and employs around 57,240 people (as of 2005). It also operates a number of toll roads and airports.

The company is controlled to 60 percent of the family Del Pino, who founded the company. Rafael del Pino began in 1952 with a railroad construction company with the company name Ferrovial.

On June 5, 2006, Ferrovial acquired for £ 10 billion, the British Airports Authority, the operator of seven UK airports. Ferrovial is currently in debt with over 25 billion euros. Following a decision of the OFT dated 19 March 2009, the BAA must sell three airports now.
