Festival do Rio

The Festival do Rio (Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival) is one of the most important international film festival in Brazil and Latin America, which takes place every year in Rio de Janeiro.

The Festival do Rio in 1999 through the merger of the two largest Brazilian film festival, which has existed since 1984 Rio Cine Festival and the existing since 1988 Mostra Banco Nacional de Cinema forth. Since then, the festival takes place annually in September and October in Rio de Janeiro instead. Competing around 400 films are shown. In recognition of Troféu Redentor, a golden replica of the Cristo Redentor is awarded from film roles.
